UNIVERSAL DANCE
COMPETITION 2019
Saturday 15th of June 2019 from 15:00 - 19:00
Universal Dance Competition embraces ALL dance styles! Standard-Latin, Salsa, Disco, Breakdance, Hip Hop, Waacking, Twerk, Afro, Reggaetón, Dancehall, Jazz, Swing, Ballet, Flamenco, Bellydance, Bollywood, and much more - you name it! You can also make your own mix of different dance styles. We embrace versatility.
The dance groups can compete in one or two categories: Dance Show or Dance Battle.
In both categories the dance groups will compete across different dance styles.
** DANCE SHOW - WITH PREPARED CHOREOGRAPHY **
The 16 groups will have ONE CHANCE to impress the judges.
Everyone will have 3 min. to show their choreography.
The dance groups will choose their own music ahead of the day.
After reviewing the dance groups the judges will choose the winner group.
** DANCE BATTLE - FREESTYLE **
The 12 dance crews will battle against each other 1 on 1, in battles of 4 minutes. Each battle will have 2 min. of music in the dance style of one crew, and 2 min. of music in the dance style of the other crew.
You will get more information on the day, on how we will give you sign to switch crews in the battle.
The 12 dance crews will dance like this in the first round:
Group 1 - Group 7 (4 min.)
Group 2 - Group 8 (4 min.)
Group 3 - Group 9 (4 min.)
Group 4 - Group 10 (4 min.)
Group 5 - Group 11 (4 min.)
Group 6 - Group 12 (4 min.)
The judges will choose one winner crew from each of the 6 battles to go to the semifinal.
THE FREESTYLE SEMIFINAL
The 6 semi finalists will battle against a new dance crew in the
semifinal on the same terms as in the first round.
The 3 best will go to the final.
THE FREESTYLE FINAL
In the final round the 3 dance crews will once again battle.
But this time the 3 finalist dance crews will compete against each other in a freestyle triple-battle.
The crews does not know which songs will be played. There will be music from each genre. (For example: both Dancehall and Hip Hop music)

RULES FOR THE COMPETITION
Dance crews of 2-12 dancers can sign up for the competition.
You have to be at least 14 years old to participate.
The competition is open for everyone - from ALL dance style. No dance style is excluded!
There is no dress code - but participants MUST NOT be wearing commercial logos from dance schools, sponsors, etc. on their clothes.
You may use props if you like.
You must pick a crew name. The crew name can not be changed between rounds.
PRIZES FOR THE WINNERS
For the winning dance crews we have the following prizes:
1. prize for Dance Battle: 5.000 DKK (fee)
1. prize for Dance Show: 5.000 DKK (fee)

Send us a video and MP3 file
You need to send us a VIDEO with a dance choreography, more than 2 minutes long, It do not have to be the same as the one you will do at the competition. The person who sends the video is the contact person from each dance group.
Later you have to send the music files for the choreography in Mp3 file to info@elstudio.dk.
You must also pick a crew/group name. You must name the music files your “CREW/GROUP NAME”

The competition takes place Saturday the 15th of June from 15.00 til 19.00
When you receive a receipt per mail, your group is signed up for the competition! Remember to send us the video, and the music file for the choreography to info@elstudio.dk
JUDGES
Ronni Morgenstjerne
Choreographer / Dancer
Choreographer and professional dancer with many years of experience. He was a choreographer at Eurovision Song Contest 2014. He has danced for such artists as Nelly Furtado, Aqua, Mel C, Rick Ashley, Johnny Logan, Howie D, Infernal. Quadron, Medina, Alphabeat, and Aura. He has also been involved with a bunch of TV shows, such as "So you think you can dance" (Scandinavia (semi-final) 2008), MTV Europe Music Awards, Danish Music Awards and Danish X-factor (final).
Fredrik Öjbro
Choreographer / Dancer
Fredrik is a recognized Swedish Breakdancer. He was born in 1988 and has been breakdancing since 2001.Together with his crew “Octagon Crew” he won the Scandinavian Battle of the year qualifications 2006, 2008 and 2009 and has represented Scandinavia at The World Competitions of BOTY. As an individual dancer Fredrik have won several solo competitions in Scandinavia during his career. Since then Fredrik have been focusing on making events through the organization FeeT, producing a Podcast where he interviews “Swedish Breakdancers” and working as a host and judge on Swedish events.
Yoyo y Solangel
Choreographers / Dancers
Solangel Fernandez and Yorgenis “Yoyo” Danger Garcia Solangel first joined the school Instructors de Arte in Havana, then graduated at the school of the “Tropicana” as a first dancer Yoyo absolved his training as modern dance- and folklore-dancer at the ENA, Cuba´s National Art School. He studied dance education and graduated at the ISA, the renowned University of Arts of Cuba in Havana, with honors. Later on, Solangel and Yoyo participated in productions like “Bar at Buenavista Social Club”, “Viva Cuba”, “Cuerpo, Espirito, Alma”, “Veia Cuba”, “Danza de negro con alma de luz” and others. They both work as instructors in Salsa-, Mambo-, Afrocuban- and Cuban-festivals all around the world and teach in English, German and Spanish. As instructors, they focus on the traditional dances “Bailes Populares Cubanos” (Son, Mambo, Cha Cha Chá, etc.) as well as on Afro-Cuban dances, modern dance and of course on Salsa, Rumba, Reggaeton, Rueda de Casino and Lady-and-Men-styling. Solangel and Yoyo are much more than excellent dancers with outstanding didactic skills. They also are enthusiastic and charismatic persons, whose positive attitude electrifies the audience and their students immediately. Their incredible performances, full of latin flavor and peppered with artistic elements, excite the crowd all over the world. Whether in Poland, Ireland, Italy, USA, China, Russia, Germany, Lithuania, Finland, Hungary, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, Spain, England, Mexico, Guatemala, France, Australia, Singapore or Czechia, Solangel and Yoyo already thrilled the audiences in many countries and they carry on. Solangel and Yoyo, that is passion and rhythm in perfection!
